This article explains how to build your own digital voltmeter based on the INTERSIL CL7107 IC chip. It provides great detail, schematics, pics, a user forum for the project (link at the bottom of the article) and even a couple schematics for a power supply. By changing a resistor, you can vary the measurement range available.

| Make your own metal detector with these easy to follow instructions. The plans are for a BFO ( beat frequency oscillator ) detector. This essentially works by have two oscillators close to the same frequency. One is used as a reference, the other contains a wide "search" coil of wire. They are wired such that you can hear the difference between the two oscillators. That's the typical beep or chirp you're probably familiar with. When passed over a piece of metal, the "search" osciallitor's frequency varies slightly. That variation is pretty noticible via the audible "chirp". Translated: that means there's some junk close by. | This site has some information on putting together your own pbx. The hardware requirements aren't much so you can probably use items you already have. The real key is the software (which is open source), running on linux. If a pbx is something you're in the market for, this is definately something to investigate. |
